Tsodilo Hills Experience

Return Helicopter Transfers & Tsodilo Hills Experience

Explore the UNESCO World Heritage Site, firstly from the air and then by foot. This half-day trip includes a flight to Tsodilo Hills with a professional San guide who will explain the fascinating artwork found here, presenting a side of Botswana few travellers get to experience. The hike can be demanding, but the hills have an air and allure that is difficult to describe; perhaps they possess a draw that appeals to something within us all.

Tsodilo Hills are a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the remote northwest of the country; a definite ‘must see’ for those seeking more than wildlife from their time in Botswana. Over 4500 rock paintings, some dating back an estimated 26,000 years, adorn the quartzite rocks. The hills are sacred to the San Bushman who utilised the caves and spring here until the late 20th century, and there is evidence of human activity here dating back some 100,000 years. The return scenic flight will take you on a journey from the wide Okavango Panhandle across permanent lagoons back over the peripheral seasonal floodplains and wildlife rich wilderness, before landing back in Maun, the gateway to the Okavango Delta.

Includes: Doors on return transfers; departure tax; 3 hour experience at Tsodilo Hills; private San bushman guide; entrance fees & picnic lunch.

Just wow! Myself and a colleague recently had the pleasure of a flight with Helicopter Horizons over the Okavango Delta. It was the most amazing experience and is something I won't forget in a hurry! I would so recommend this experience to other visitors to Botswana as it give you such a unique viewpoint of the Delta.

Amazing Experience and Delta Highlight We flew with Helicopter Horizons from Eagle Island all the way up to the top of the Delta at Pepere Island where we landed and had champagne and it was absolutely a first class experience. The helicopter was new, the pilot friendly and we saw lion, Rhino and lots of Buffaloes and Elephant. I thoroughly recommend this flight as you get to see the best of the Delta in a short time.

What an View!! We found a old pamplet at AUDI camp reception, and from the moment we phoned Helicopter Horisons we felt special.
Do not miss this. We did a quick 45 minute flip, but it was the best experience and really like a dream! We were wisked through the airport and on to the tarmac to meet our pilot. What an experience to sit in a helicopter with no doors!!!
We took the best photos, some that will go up...

A brilliant way to understand the environment We had been warned that the helicopter pilot would remove the doors when he landed to pick us up. I thought our guide was joking, but he wasn't! Nonetheless we were securely strapped in, and the absence of the doors meant the view was completely unobstructed. We were able to judge how the poor wet season had left large areas drier than they should be, but were still able to appreciate the beauty of the delta, the differing behaviour of... read more
