Makgadikgadi Pans

Makgadikgadi Pans Experience

One of the largest Salt Pans in the world this dramatic landscape offers incredible scenes over the endless horizons. Makgadikgadi is home to the famous Kubu Island which hosts a collection of Baobab Trees formed on a granite island jutting out from this great expanse. From approximately January through to April tens of thousands of Wildebeest and Zebra can be spotted during their annual migration. From March until June a sea of Greater Flamingos can be spotted on the southern edge of the pans.

A scenic flight from any pans property offers an entirely unique terrain, not often associated with Botswana and definitely not to be missed.

Fantastic We decided to have a flight over the Okavango Delta and looked around for options - it was the President's holiday weekend!! Helicopter Horizons offered the best choice and, as it turned out, an exceptional experience. The pilot was a kiwi - very knowledgeable and also careful not to disturb any wildlife whilst flying as low as possible for us to get great photos. I can highly recommend this to anyone who finds themselves in Maun for a few hours.

Best View of the Delta Ever! This ride was the best way to get an appreciation for the size and diversity of the delta. From the overhead views in the wettest, most inaccessible parts of the delta to the reed skimming low rides over the drier areas, the views of the landscape and wildlife were incredible! And the pilot was a delta expert to boot with great explanations of the geographic features, fauna and flora. Be sure to take this ride.

Du bonheur à l'état pur Le top du top à un prix qui pour nous est très raisonnable, de par toutes les beautés que nous avons vues. Le pilote Joachim est exceptionnel et nous nous sommes éclatés pendant 45 minutes

We are so happy we saw the Okavango delta from the helicopter. Paul took us up. Doors off and what a flight! We saw a fat hyena running in the delta as well as elephants, giraffes, wildebeest, kudu and amazing scenery. The advantage over a fixed wig was evident, you still have to stay above 500 feet, but being able to slow and circle back for great shots was well worth the money compared to a cheaper fixed wing (despite me loving fixed wings!). A well run outfit with good people, great... read more
